2022 · University research solar project, Ashanti Region
Restoring a 45 kW solar mini-grid after a blackout
Client: KNUST Living Lab (TUM SEED Project)
A community solar system with 120 × 375 W panels, three 8 kW inverters and four 50 V, 200 Ah lithium batteries stopped supplying power. The panels were producing, but the inverters gave no AC output and the batteries read empty.
What we did
Fault tracing with continuity tests and instrument measurements across breakers, surge protection, the 100 A contactor and lightning arresters
Found heat-damaged 160 A DC battery breakers and burnt internal connectors in all four lithium batteries
Replaced one breaker with a 100 A, 1000 V DC breaker and serviced the other two
Cleaned, rewired and tested all four batteries instead of replacing them
Result: Power restored eight days after the first site visit, without the cost of new lithium batteries. The client received a written report with recommendations on cooling, breaker ratings and load limits.
2023 · Hotel, Western Region
Electrical energy audit for a hotel
Client: Asempa Hotel
We carried out a comprehensive electrical practical energy audit for a hotel, starting with a site visit, to find where energy was being wasted and how renewable energy could help.
What we did

Renewable energy solutions to make the facility cleaner and more affordable to run
Result: The audit report, with recommendations on reducing energy losses and adopting renewable energy, was delivered four days after the site visit.
A production line's block-making machine needed new control hardware and reprogramming to keep running reliably.
What we did
Supply and installation of two Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 PLCs, one with dual Ethernet ports
Siemens KTP700 Basic touch panel (HMI) for operators
Siemens SCALANCE 5-port industrial network switch
Reprogramming of the machine control system and maintenance of the machine
Result: The machine now runs on new Siemens control hardware, with an operator touch panel and an industrial network, supplied and installed by one team.
Three intelligent solar-powered PTZ cameras needed to be moved to new positions, and some needed new memory cards.
What we did
Removal and re-installation of three solar PTZ cameras at new positions
Two new 256 GB memory cards for on-camera recording
Result: All three cameras back in service at their new positions.
